Fellow citizen, let me begin by thanking you for the opportunity to serve as your Sheriff. It is my honor and privilege to serve as your Sheriff and with your vote and support, I hope to continue. As your Sheriff, we have seen our crime decrease, even as the population increased. Our Sheriff's Office has been recognized and given Awards of Excellence on the state and national level and used as a model by other law enforcement agencies around the nation. We decreased our response times; giving you the service, you deserve quickly, making you and your family safer. Your Sheriff's office has not had a hint of scandal, yet other agencies and agency heads have brought shame to their citizens. We have set our goals high and the men and women of the Sheriff's Office continue to meet and exceed those goals. We have begun the process of building a needed jail, thanks to you the citizen who recognized the need and passed a bond that many felt would fail. We saved over $10,000,000.00 dollars from the original price with careful planning and attention to detail. We locked in a price that should not go up, but can go down, again because of planning and attention to detail. Unlike other large agencies, we have avoided having our jails taken over by the state and federal government, which would have cost the taxpayer even more, again because of planning and attention to detail. Many of you have said the Sheriff's Office is one part of government that you feel is working and provides good service. The credit goes to a dedicated group of men and women who make up your Sheriff's Office and to you the citizen who have supported our efforts. I hope that I can count on your continued support in the 2010 election. With your vote, I will continue providing you the best Sheriff's Office in North Carolina.
